The exterior of your car is what people notice first when they see your vehicle and it doesn’t matter the age of the car; if you keep it clean, waxed and covered when not in use, it will always be something you can be proud of. Your paint finish is expensive to repair and replace so keeping it in tip top shape is definitely worth it, both financially and for your enjoyment.

There are several other things that you can do to make sure your car runs for a long time. With proper care, any car can be kept in good condition both in the way it looks and runs. The first thing is to make sure you choose your vehicle wisely. You will want to do research on the make and model of the vehicle you want to buy. The internet is a great source for finding out about if the car is prone to any problems or how reliable down the road it is.

You also have to make sure you keep your vehicle clean and covered up when not in use. Your paint job does more than make your car look good it also protects the parts of the car underneath. You have to make sure that you fight rust to keep your car looking good. If you are in an area that has a snowy climate then you should make sure you wash your car often. The salt used on the roads to melt the snow and ice can be detrimental to your cars paint job. You should wash your car regularly during the winter months and wait until the temperature is above freezing. As long as it is below freezing the salt stays in the ice and won’t harm your car. If you park in a heated garage the melting snow allows the salt to attack and corrode your paint finish.

To keep your car running in top shape, you should follow the maintenance guide in your owner’s manual. Use this as a guide for when you should have your car serviced, and you might want to keep a notebook in your glove box to write down when you have serviced, or replaced a component, so you can refer back to it when needed.

You will also want to be aware and on the lookout for new noises or anything that doesn’t seem quite right. To keep your car running well and as long as possible you should make sure that you fix problems as they come up and anticipate component failure by following the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. Even though it might seem like an unimportant thing at the time, little things add up overtime.

Your car is a major investment and you want it looking and running at its best for the longest period of time possible. That is why it is important to keep it maintained properly and covered when not in use. It is recommended you use a custom car cover that is specifically made for your make and model of vehicle. It will help protect your car from the sun, rain, snow and other outdoor elements to keep it looking new.

Well it may sound metaphorical but yes your car will also need a shiny exterior and an interior that races at high speed, just like you! Well till now all you may have heard about maintaining your car is that:

o Maintain a steady speed of 60mph and your car will run smooth for a longer period.
o Use the correct gas needed for your car.
o You have no idea how things pile up in the trunk. So keep the trunk empty for fuel efficiency.

All of that is true when it comes to running your car. But it is not just the engine that constitutes your car – the shiny body that you liked once, the color that you had specifically chosen or the leather seats that you were proud of when you booked the car – all of that needs proper maintenance and care.

Let’s look one by one how you can keep the exterior of your car shiny:

o First rinse the dirt and dust off your car. Now use a sponge and soap it up well. Enjoy the foam as it lathers the body of the car! Wash it off or hose off the soap from the body next and clean the car. Now remember to dry it off with a soft, clean cloth. If you leave wet spots and water droplets on the body of the car then those will gather dust and you will get a spot when it dries up.

o Once a month you must use the chemicals available to remove bugs and dirt from the body of the car. These generally polish the surface of the car at the same time and are readily available in auto parts stores.

o Next is polishing. Use a good wax and pamper your car once in two months. Agreed you may want to just drive in a car wash and get all of these done, but believe me there is nothing better than personal care.

o Tires kiss the road – keep them strong, well-maintained and sturdy and they will ensure that your car is stable. Cleaning your tires is a must. Use cleaning products to stop building up of dust.

o Use care products specially made for other parts of your car – vinyl, wood work if any or plastic and rubber.

Once, you have the exterior dazzling your neighbor’s don’t forget to pamper the interiors of your car to impress those whom you drive around!

o Use seat covers. This cannot be stressed enough. It is easy to take these off and clean. Vacuum your car seats, then clean the seat covers, dry them and put them back on the seats.

o Clean the windows with proper cleaners, the dashboard and other attachments carefully using soft cleansers.

o Vacuum the carpet and use rubber mats to keep dust off from getting under the carpet.

Simple, easy to use tips to maintain the look of your car all by yourself and also gives you a good break for your Sundays. Remember to park your car in your garage if you are not using it often, this will protect the car and keep that extra dust off the body!

We get asked many times how to wash or valet a vehicle like the professionals do. This article aims to provide details on how to get the best out of your washing regime and gives a step-by-step guide on how to go about it.

The procedure

Firstly clean the insides of the windows with a damp microfiber cloth and a window cleaner such as Autoglym Glass Spray. This will give you a good idea how clean the windows are on the outside when you come to clean the exterior glass.

Clean the Wheels

It is important to start with a wheel cleaner and give the wheels a good soaking with something like Dodo Juice Mellow Yellow Wheel Cleaner and leave them for a few minutes. The wheels can then be cleaned using a suitable brush. Although a brush is not absolutely necessary, a purpose made wheel brush such as Meguiar’s Ultra Safe Wheel Brush will be better on certain shapes of wheel. Wheel cleaners are formulated to be acidic or caustic which eats away at the brake dust without damaging the wheel itself. For this reason it is important not to use these products when the wheels are hot.

The wheel cleaner can then be rinsed off at this point, with just water. It is important that the wheels are thoroughly cleaned off afterward as wheel cleaners will attack brake dust including the material which makes the dust! Depending on your budget and availability, it is best practice to use a different bucket to wash the wheels than the bodywork of the car for the simple reason the wheels are usually dirtiest and deposits sat in the bottom of the bucket may scratch your paintwork.

Now you can move the car forward or backward until the wheel has turned through 90 degrees and do the wheels again ensuring you clean all the bits missed the first time. On some wheels you might want to roll the wheels in thirds.

Wash the Exterior

Now it is time to wash the exterior of the car. If you have a pressure washer now is the time to dust it off and get it working. Power wash the vehicle to remove surface dirt including inside the wheel arches and those hidden areas which will contain grit and dirt. Once the majority of the loose dirt is removed it may be necessary to use dedicated cleansers and concentrate on the dead bugs, tar spots and brake dust at various areas on your paintwork. Once this is done rinse off with clean water and be ready for the contact wash.

To wash the car we recommend a soft cotton car wash mitt. There are plenty available from Dodo Juice, Meguiar’s and AutoGlym and a good quality shampoo such as Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild which, as the name suggests, is mild and wax friendly. You can now begin washing the car. Again depending on budget and availability it is best practice to use the two bucket method – one bucket of water containing the shampoo solution for washing the car and a separate one for rinsing your sponge or mitt afterwards thus keeping the sponge or mitt as clean as possible. Dodo Juice produces some nice vinyl decals for your buckets so you can tell the difference! You can also buy Dodo Juice or Meguiar’s grit guards for the buckets to reduce the amount of dirt deposited in the bucket between washes/rinses.

Always start from the top of the car and work down using plenty of water, taking extra care round the skirting not to scratch the paint work. If you are not using grit guards or the two bucket method then don’t use the bottom quarter of the bucket, as the deposits will collect there.

The car can then be washed a second time using the wash bucket and shampoo and a soft bristled brush to work at the nooks and crannies and the plastic trim. It is important not to let the car dry naturally as this will leave streaks. A body brush or ‘traffic brush’ is great for cleaning the panel lines and around the lights and grill. However, only buy a purpose made brush and only use it on the lower half of the car. These special brushes are designed not to scratch but they are still quite harsh so avoid using them on the main painted panels.

Make sure to wash the inside door frames taking care not to get the electrics wet using the brush. You also don’t want to wash all the grease off the hinges as this will make the doors squeak and rust.

Rinsing

The car can now be rinsed using clean water. This can either be from a bucket or from a hosepipe (providing no ban in force). Usually a bucket will remove most of the soap without the need for a hosepipe.

Once the soap solution has been removed, you can now use a large microfiber cloth such as Dodo Juice Supernatural Drying Towel and start drying it off, starting with the roof and working down. Depending on how hot it is you will have to work quite fast as it will leave watermarks if it dries on its own.

Finishing off

You can now use a suitable tyre dressing such as Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing which is designed to make the tyres look new and black. Be careful not to get it on your newly waxed/polished paintwork or it will look untidy.
You can also clean the exterior glass making sure you extend the windscreen wipers to allow access and a suitable microfiber cloth. Once the glass is clean ensure is it smear free.

Now you have a choice. You can either go out in the car or you may want to move on to cleaning the interior.

It’s a norm for Honda to compliment their vehicles with sleek exterior designs, and this designative technique recurs in the Honda Civic Hybrid. The very functional hybrid car implements power-side mirrors with built-in turn indicators and spoilers fitted onto the rear deck lid. By this and with just the naked eye one could instantly recognize the stylish high-tech physicality. The angles of the windshield are heightened and neatly integrated into the hood, providing higher modernistic appearance. Aiding all of this the exterior look also intensifies a sporty and sassy appeal.

This fuel-saving vehicle’s outer designs feature a more unique touch compared with that of the contemporary Civic sedan. Equipped with exquisite allow wheels and an air dam integrated to the car’s frontal, body panels are located below the surface of the car’s exterior that are aerodynamically designed to assist in alleviating expected air-drag toward the vehicle.

Evidently by its design the Honda Civic Hybrid along with its future successors eludes more than just subtlety. The rear bumper, headlights and the grille show-off some sheer design quality. The appearance of the headlights seem lowered in the Honda Civic Hybrid, similar to that on the Honda Accord and the front bumper contains various intake shafts along with sporty circular-edged corner spoilers providing it with a sleek-looking chassis.

The vehicle looks vigorous, however other competing hybrids have less weight compared to their original platform counterparts, and opposed to the standard all-fuel Civic the Honda Civic Hybrid is heavier which renders this vehicle slightly slower.

Interior Review

With the sheer quality design the Honda Civic Hybrid’s exterior utilizes more than just eye-candy as this car’ interior compliments the entire vehicle. The standard features of the car’s interior are a complete jaw-dropper and especially owing to the fact that it maintains the functional feel of a sedan. This provides complete comfort and a feeling of security and not to mention its main features which add up to its sleekness.

Robust materials of a synthetic nature create the simple and functional interior and even though this may be, anyone would agree that the Honda Civic Hybrid eludes style and a futuristic nature even on the inside.

When it comes to spaciousness the Honda Civic Hybrid succeeds in creating generous amounts of capacity needed by basic drivers, given that it is suitable for five persons and a driver to be simultaneously accommodated. There is ample foot-space at the back due to a flat floor and there’s much room for luggage as well. Complimenting the entire inner surface is the dashboard, integrated very well into the rest of the interior and this provides an elegant impression with a futuristic brilliance.

Sitting in the driver’s seat your attention will surely be captured by the gauges which are stunningly back lit in blue. The instrument cluster accommodates the gauges which include the speedometer, technometer and the gear selection indicators.

If you investigate you will find that there is no formal definition for taking care of the both the inside and outside of your vehicle. You would assume that there would be some common agreement on a process that may cost several hundred dollars. Most people assume that they know what car detailing means. Since there is not a common agreement on what car detailing, be careful when you ask someone to do it to your car. Insure they are planning on doing what you want and expect to receive. We suggest you ask very specific questions and understand what the company is planning on doing. However there are certain common steps that are done in a typical car detailing project. Usually the average car detailing job consists of doing a thorough washing, cleaning, polishing and waxing the exterior of the vehicle. There should also be a through cleaning of the interior, but this article will not address those interior detailing techniques. Some companies start on the exterior of the car, and others begin on the interior. Most of the professional detailers will begin on the interior. This is because if any of the chemicals used in the interior wind up on the outside of the car, they will be removed as part of the cleaning step. Assuming we start on the exterior the first step in detailing is to wash the car to remove all heavy particles of dirt and related materials. This car detailing step removes surface contamination. Special soap are made for the car’s paint and they are designed not to strip off the wax. If you use dishwashing soap, then you must rewax the car. In the next step a Clay Bar is used with some type of liquid lubricant such as spray wax, window cleaner or sometimes even water. This step should remove road grime, tar, bugs, light rust, tree sap and even some paint over spray. Clay helps removes contamination that is embedded in the paint. The first two steps remove contaminates which are on and in the surface. A good detailing job should always have both of these steps as part of the process. If someone tells you that they do not do the claying step, you are not receiving a professional job. The third most common step is polishing the vehicle. Polishing is a critical major step as it can usually remove oxidation, swirls, water deposits, light scratches and some other minor surface imperfections. A good car polish can be just a chemical that cleans the surface and removes oxidation for a new car. For heavier needs such as an older car which has been left in the sun a different type of polish containing various abrasive materials will be used. The most severe polish used in detailing is usually called rubbing compound. It looks like a heavy paste but acts like a very very fine sandpaper. Rubbing compound can remove too much paint if done incorrectly. This is why you want a professional to do your work. A professional will use a rotary buffer, while an amateur should use an orbital buffer which is less apt to remove too much paint. Remember that the goal of polishing is to give your car a deep shine. The next step protects the finish, but it does not create the shine. The last major step in taking care of the exterior is the use of a sealant or a wax. The newest sealants are typically a polymer based product which seems to offer more durability from than the best wax. They are liquid based and applied like a liquid wax. One factor should be kept in mind if you want a sealant instead of wax. Sealants must not be applied over wax or any surface contamination, If you did it can slow down or stop the bonding of the sealant to the paint surface. There is always disagreement between owners if a chemical product or a real wax looks better. The wax can enhance the gloss of the paint and give it the appearance of depth. You can apply a carnauba based wax or a synthetic wax. Car crazy owners and most owners who show their cars, are on a never ending quest to find the best wax to use. Some car waxes are even being sold today with instructions that should be applied with your bare hands. The heat from your hands rubbing in the wax is supposed to give you a better finish. I have never seen proof that this is a better wax than others. There are various one-step products which claim to clean, polish and protect at the same time. A professional shop will never use these type of products because of the compromises that must be made for each one of the steps. Reports that I have seen suggest that the synthetic products for car detailing go on easier and last longer than pure wax. But don’t try and convince most owners of this. On the typical car, either one will give you a great finish. Taking care of the chrome, trim and tires must also be accomplished for that truly show car finish.

Apart from our homes, it is the cars we have that are usually the most expensive items in our possession. If you take great pride in being the owner of a new Chrysler 300 then you probably spend many hours maintaining and modifying your vehicle. Even with a car as special as a 300 you will still not be the only person driving such a model. By choosing a selection of Chrysler 300 exterior accessories you will be able to have the hottest vehicle on your block, or even in your hood.

Locating and installing accessories to a car can be an enjoyable pastime. If you have invested a lot of your savings into taking possession of a Chrysler 300 then you can enjoy many hours making changes that are unique. If you are not sure where to begin then the following information will allow you to understand just what accessories are available and from where.

Even though we spend more time behind the wheel than looking at the exterior of our ride, it is still important to us that we create a style and look that grabs attention. There are many eye catching exterior accessories now available. One of the simplest ways to customize the look of your car is to fit aftermarket grille. Most Chrysler 300 owners in all likelihood will start with the custom grille. The Chrysler 300 has an image of being tough and masculine. By choosing a new grille you will be able to add to the overall impression. Maybe you want a chunkier option that looks rugged, or conversely you could choose a stylish slicker option.

Chrome trim is among the hottest stuff on the market today, and anyone seeking Chrysler 300 custom exterior accessories will want to check those out too. These custom after-market add-ons will make your Chrysler stand out among the parking lot for sure! Nobody will doubt your car has the best of the best everything when they see how it shines with these accessories. Door handles, mirror covers, headlight trim, pillar post covers, chrome arrow stunna, mirror covers, and taillight chrome are all some of the choices available. Even a nice chrome rear trunk trim is available. These accessories are unique and extraordinary, and will add the most bling for your custom after-market designed ride.

This selection of Chrysler 300 custom accessories includes after-market exterior parts such as body kits, wings, spoilers, headlight covers, body molding, taillight blackouts, roof accessories, and more. The headlights can also be changed to give a personalized touch. It is possible to choose HID or xenon light bulbs for an extra special glow when you are cruising at night. If you really are determined to make an impression then there is also the option of installing under car led neon. This is very trendy and will definitely set your 300 model apart from any others that are in the same locality. There are also chrome trims and neon kits that can be added to the engine compartment.

What about your wheels. How about choosing a set of 20 or 22 inch rims to give a wider feel to the way the 300 looks. There is also the option of choosing spinners to cover your rims. Custom car rims are one of the most popular customizing choices today. Easy to fit, and at the budget end of the range cheap to buy, rims are something that can make a big force for little sum of time and money.

There is almost no limitation to the exterior modifications you can make to your Chrysler 300. The biggest limitation will come down to the budget you have and your vision to create an outlandish style. For the best prices check out the products sold online as these will be cheaper than in physical stores

When a person tells you to clean your car, what is the very first thing that comes into your mind?

For most people, cleaning cars mean getting a bucket, some soap, a hose, and a sponge. And this also means getting all wet. This is mainly because cleaning a car mostly means to a huge portion of people as cleaning only the exterior of a car. Just keep in mind just how many music videos, movies, and documentaries show people cleaning only their car’s exterior. Even if you do try to search images about cleaning a car, you would most likely be given a list of images that show people getting wet and soapy while cleaning the car’s exterior.

Now, to clean up your own car’s exterior, you should be very much ready to get wet. It could also get a little physical and would also mean you having to sweat out a little. After all, remember that your car’s exterior is the one that suffers and meets all the dirt, grime, dust, and other elements when driving. So dirt could really accumulate on it making cleaning quite a chore.

First, roll up all your windows. Make sure that they are closed tightly. Shut all your doors as well. When you have done so, start by cleaning and rinsing your car using a hose. Rule of the thumb is to start from the roof, making your way down to your car’s tires.

After this, take a bucket filled with warm water. You can try putting in car detergent or even mild dishwashing liquid. Some automobile experts even suggest that you use a car soap that has been made specially for vehicles so as to protect the paint. Take your pick. Then, wash your car using a sponge or a rag. Make sure you go through everything. Then, rise off all the soap using the hose.

To dry your car, you can use a chamois cloth or a towel but make sure that it is clean when you use it. Or else, you would only be marring the cleaning job that you just finished.

Car Parts Rush is the right place for you to find the top of the line Chevy body parts and Ford truck parts.

When buying something, most people intently look at the outer surface of a thing because it oftentimes says the quality and performance.

Kelley Blue Book and Kelley Blue Book Marketing Research announced the results of the “Exterior Styling” segment of its newest automotive research study, Brand Watch.

Kelley Blue Book Vice President for Marketing and Market Research Rick Wainschel said exterior styling is one of the top decision factors among vehicle shoppers, and consumers’ perceptions can add or eliminate a brand from someone’s consideration list. He added that the real-time reporting of the Brand Watch data and the ability to see these brand perceptions can be extremely helpful in tracking shifts in new vehicle shopper attitudes and developing responses to those shifts.

The Kelley Blue Book Brand Watch Study on Exterior Styling was further categorized into seven segments. These are the convertibles/Sports cars, Trucks, Minivans, Luxury SUVs, Non Luxury SUVs, Luxury Sedan, and Non Luxury Sedan.

The results gave some surprises. Porsche bested other convertibles or sports cars by ranking number one in the category. It was followed by Mercedes-Benz at rank 2, then by Jaguar at rank 3.

For new trucks, according to auto shoppers, Ford has the best exterior, and then followed by GMC and then Chevrolet. Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda almost got a spot in the category where it placed fourth, fifth, eight, and eleventh, respectively.
In the Minivans category, however, Dodge ranked 1; Toyota ranked 2; and Honda ranked 3.

Consumers find BMW as the luxury SUV with the best exterior, Lexus as the second best and Mercedes-Benz as the third. Meanwhile, on the Non Luxury SUVs, the top three in rank –in descending order- is composed of Ford, Toyota and GMC.

BMW indeed proved its luxury when it ranked 1 again in the luxury category, this time, for the Sedan. Mercedes-Benz immediately followed at rank two and Infiniti at rank 3. Meanwhile, on the Non Luxury Sedan, Nissan, Honda and Toyota bagged the first, second, and third place, respectively.

Volkswagen, with its newly enhanced VW valve covers for its new vehicles was not found in the top list of the results. Some said this is because the study was only based on the exterior of the car and not on the engine, which is one of the priority parts of a car.

Jack R. Nerad, the Executive Editorial Director and at the same time the Executive Market Analyst of Kelley Blue Book said that as vehicle reliability reaches near-parity in the market, they predict that exterior styling will play an even bigger role in building new-vehicle sales and brand equity. He further said the results of the Brand Watch study demonstrate that the industry is, and should be, placing great emphasis on what their vehicles look like.

Brand Watch taps into active shoppers to determine their perceptions of automotive brands within specific automotive segments and is available to vehicle manufacturers and auto industry professionals. Brand Watch further deals into how each manufacturer’s brand equity differs across vehicle segments, compares the relative standing of each make versus competitive makes, and reveals the decision factors of car-buyers within each make and segment. Also, detailed demographic and psychographic information is collected, reported and detailed throughout Brand Watch’s comprehensive study which is available quarterly from Kelley Blue Book Marketing Research.

How long have you had that car parked right at this moment inside your garage or that one just at the curb in front of your house? How long have you sat behind the wheel and shot down highways as you beat the red light in it? Now, how many times in the course of this association have you actually taken the chance to look at it, to really look at it, at the way it looks, at the whole package, from the tires up to the roof of the car? Notice the marked deterioration of that spit and polish? How long did it take you to cue in to that immediate fact? No matter how good the model of your car may be, when you regularly drive it, sooner or later, an upgrade really should follow.

All things need to be replaced or improved upon at certain of time. Nothing is so good that it works forever. Besides, that’s the best part of change, of progress… great developments. And among these parts that need upgrades are the exterior parts of your car. Appearance, we agree, does not count at all times. Interior efficiency is always the better thing to go for. What does anyone want about a beautiful car that does not run efficiently? But if you had that engine working at perfect pitch already, then the absolute next best step to take is to look after the condition of your exterior parts. And when we say exterior car parts, this may mean anything, from your tires to your windshield wipers to your fender flares. Yes, your fender flares or fender trims. As a concerned and certainly conscientious car owner, you might find yourself asking: is there a reason this should matter? Certainly. Unlike other accessories or exterior part additions, fender flares, more than just add that very appealing gleam and polish to your car, also helps in lessening the accumulated dirt that your car tires get. How is this so?

Well, exterior parts like customized fender flares are made to fit over the cure of your tire. So instead of all that road dust and dirt and all the other road debris there might be getting into the tracks of your tires whenever you get behind the wheel and step down on the accelerator, the fender flares serves to protect the tires from these things. So instead of a set of incredibly dirty, debris-laden tires, you’ll have yourself less dirt and much longer performing tires. You might not think that road debris is serious business but in fact, road debris accounts for half of most premature tire replacements. How so? When dust, mud or dirt hardens on or within the tires, they find a way to weaken the material of the tires and from there on, what follows is a simple lesson in rubber decline. Though dirt and hardened mud particles damage your wheels in subtler ways than say a big tire spike running clear to the sidewall of your car but dirt brings your tire’s defenses a little bit lower each and every time you go on the road. So take better care of your car’s exterior parts by outfitting them with useful car components like fender trims.
